The Destructive Force of Sin

Romans 1:18-19

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness
and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
because that which is known about God is evident within them;
for God made it evident to them.

There are fires, lightning, floods, storms and other destructive things on this earth.  But there is one thing much more destructive, and that is sin.      

 At the beginning, in the midst of God’s perfect Creation, He made two people in His own image; Adam and Eve.  They were to bring glory to God, and enjoy an unhindered friendship with Him.  When they disobeyed in the garden, their nature was corrupted. They essentially became self-centred and were ruled greatly by sin.  The havoc throughout the earth becomes obvious if you watch news/current event programmes.   Even the environment has been affected.      

The beauty and order of the universe (though somewhat marred), our conscience (given by God), training by parents and others, and God’s Word (scripture) all point us toward truth and goodness.  But deception, and wilful rejection of the truth often leads us astray.  False and evil words are destructive.  The Bible is the inspired Word of God, but do we read and accept it?  To deny or falsify the truth is indeed corrupt. 

Look at the scripture at the top again.  We are responsible before God.  Many are on a collision course with destruction.

Those who admit their state before the living God, ask for forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, can receive the Holy Spirit within to give all the help they need and transform them.  They can begin to truly love God and others.  Have you responded?
